Dirrty!

Make Some Noise
Christina Aguilera & Matthew Rutler
"If you ain't dirty - You ain't here to party (whoo!)" - Dirrty, Christina Aguilera

What is the Holiday Season without a little simulated oral, sex that is? Thus today I give a two days until Christmas shout out to my fellow Sagittarius and Birthday sharer - "Yes" we were both born on December 18th, Christina Aquilera!

Xtina is here via moi to put some spice into your Holiday grrrrrrrl. She like me, knows how to have some Dirrty fun during the most wonderful time of the year.

Chica knows how to get down, like yours truly. Who says Christmas needs to be pure as the driven snow?

Breakdown the walls and grow some balls that aren't blue and hanging, from a tree that is...

FYI: Ms. Aguilera will be headlining Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest.

In the meantime have yourself a Dirrty Little Christmas...Just do it!

Jessi Teich Has A "Twisted Soul"

I had the extreme pleasure of interviewing the mega talented Jessi Teich recently. Her upcoming album which she recorded in Paris, Twisted Soul is due March 3rd and it's amazing!

Not familiar with her? Well let's get acquainted with the Jazz aficionado...it's time to know more about Ms. Jessi Teich!

JT: Hi Michael, this is Jessi Teich

MS: You and I were just in a Twitter frenzy.

JT: Yeah, that's exactly what was happening. (both laugh)

MS: I really loved Twisted Soul and the fact that you were Magna Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music was not a real shocker.

JT: Awwwwwwww, Thank you. It's such a nice thing putting something out there that people respond to in a positive way. It means so much, it's great!

MS: The music biz is so up in the air it's the more unique artists that seem to be catching on.

JT: I tried to make this album accessible as far as the musicality of it. I know with jazz it's really easy to go into an eight minute solo...Not everyone wants to geek out on jazz. (laughs) People like simple music, I like simple music. I gravitated towards that with the album, I think it's a great marriage between jazz and simplicity.

MS: Twisted Soul is described as "Poperatic."

Jessi Hitting The Keys
JT: The story of it is autobiographical. Actually the booklet that is coming with the CD, each song is going to be presented as a chapter in the story and I do a little narration in each song. It's in third person, between a male and female character. This is all based on a previous relationship I was in which was emotionally abusive. The CD talks about how I was in the relationship, how I was able to break free from the relationship and how I was able to succeed in finding my own way, my own voice and emerging victorious. This is a very positive way in dealing with a terrible situation.

MS: I love your quote about "vomiting crazy emotions" out of yourself.

JT: (both laugh) I'm always afraid I'm going to gross people out when I say that, but it's true! It's like I am purging myself of these crazy feelings. It feels like vomiting, it's weird. (laughs)

MS: Yeah, it's like when I write. Something comes out that's so loopy I keep it because it's so cool.

JT: Yeah, it's you, it's unique. I think that is what people graft onto in this day and age. They want you the person, not you this unattainable artist. They want to be able to relate to you somehow. That is part of the reason I chose not to remain silent about my situation, not only does it help me, but I feel like it could help a lot of people, feeling they could live through this and get through something horrible.

MS: What I find interesting when artists do speak about these things is, it's not going to stop it. But it will help people.

JT: If I can benefit one person, I've done my job. When I was going through the worst of it, I really grappled onto who else has been in a similar situation to me. One things I did was I called one of the abuse hot lines. I talked to them about my options and protection and what I could do...because I was very scared. When I was able to reach out to somebody else, people that knew how to deal with situations like that I felt like I had a community. It was an amazing feeling.

MS: You also had to overcome a cyst on your vocal chord.

JT: That was pretty intense. I was diagnosed with a cyst on my right vocal chord a few years ago. It was something that really kind of jilted me into reality, like oh my gosh! I might not be able to pursue my music career. When I was diagnosed I was teaching forty vocal lessons a week, eating pretty much what I wanted. I questioned myself first, and I asked my vocal therapist: is it me or my technique? She said: No absolutely not, this happens when you overuse your voice. I did everything I could for a while, speech therapy, singing therapy, changed my diet, everything that could be a trigger and the cyst went down about fifty percent, but it didn't go away so that's when I decided to have the surgery. But before the surgery, you're going to laugh at this, I still went to work and carried around a white board and wrote everything down, people did not know what to do with me. People thought I was deaf or mute, they thought I didn't speak English, even though I had a name tag and a white board that said: Hi my name is Jessi Teich and I'm on vocal rest. (both laugh) It really opened my eyes to how important your voice is. The only other universal language other than music is a smile, so I just smiled a lot, people were like: OK she's happy even though she's not talking (both laugh)

MS: It's interesting to me that you covered Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River.

Jazz Baby

JT: Yes. I grew up listening to Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Janis Joplin...My Dad had this amazing vinyl collection. I still was a child of the 90's and I listened to Justin Timberlake, he was on the radio, he was my guilty pleasure. It seemed to fit the album. I've always liked covering pop in a very different way.

MS: When I first saw the song on your album, given your background. I thought it was a cover of the Arthur Hamilton version.

JT: Oh yeah the jazz standard. I think I have been throwing a few people for a loop, because they expect that. Then they hear Justin Timberlake  and they're like whaaaaaaat?! (laughs)

MS: Throwing people for a loop is a good idea I think.

JT: I do too, and I do it on a daily basis anyway, why not do it on my album?

MS: I loved your poetry on the title track of Twisted Soul

JT: Thank you. I could literally sit down with you and go through every line of that song, and really any song on the entire album, it all means something. Every lyric is prepared for a very specific reason. There are long and short stories behind each song. The album was so cathartic and so therapeutic, to write these songs and get them out in the world. I appreciate your compliments, it's so nice for me to get them out of my system.

MS: You really love jazz, touch on that some before we say goodbye.

JT: Some of my greatest music teachers were Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington...I grew up listening to these women. Here I am this little white girl, so cool, all my friends are like: I listen to Brittney Spears, I listen to Christine Aguilera. I'm like: I listen to Billie Holiday. (both laugh) They would all look at me like: Who's Billie? (laughs) who is he?! I was such a different kind of kid I really walked to my own beat.

Bump Out! Kourtney Kardashian

Looking Good, Kourtney Kardashian
Yes I know it's Kourtney Kardashian, but she is nine months pregnant and looks amazing! She recently posed nude that way for Du Jour Magazine.

Also those of you who follow this blog know I  find the image a a pregnant woman nude quite beautiful.

Kourtney is no exception to my rule. I have featured Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera - thus I feel in all fairness to my standard of what I find aesthetically pleasing I must include Ms. Double K.

Having no personal knowledge about her other than what is put out there in the media, I have no real opinion on her other than she is a beautiful woman making a life and sharing the process with the world.

In this writer's opinion that is a wonderful thing.

Alicia Keys - Happy "Bump Day"

Alicia Keys, Peace
"I don't care what your differences are with your Moms. If you can do it. Hold them and tell them that you love them" - Erik Rimmer

What a lovely sentiment from a special guy.

Everyone must know how much I love the site of a nude pregnant woman by now...after my post about Christina Aguilera how could you not?

Well the lovely and talented Ms. Alicia Keys is the latest on the list to show her glow, and it's for charity. With an awesome peace sign emblazoned across her tummy, so cool!

Alicia's goal is to connect her millions of fans with reputable organizations tackling big issues, from hunger and poverty to LGBT rights and gun violence. Keys has donated $1 million to be split among 12 groups and released a new song, "We Are Here," to get even more attention.

In honor of Ms. Keys and her bundle of joy. I am going to publish the link to the twelve charity's that this photo was meant to benefit.

As she states: "People won't be able to ignore this visual."

Hey Alicia, nobody does it better...love sent to you and yours.

Remember, Mom's Rule! Happy "Bump Day!"

Christina Aguilera: The Name Game

Christina Aguilera, Has A Baby Girl
With last weeks deaths of Robin Williams and Lauren Bacall, I thought it would be great to kick off this week with a celebration of life and to congratulate Christina Aguilera and her man Matthew Rutler on the birth of their baby girl this past weekend.
Aguilera gave birth to her bundle of joy on August 16th, 2014 at Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles, CA.
Christina announced the name of her daughter on Twitter today with this statement:
"So proud to welcome our beautiful daughter Summer Rain Rutler into the world,"
Love the baby name! I Have a cousin named Summer and have always thought it a great name for a girl.
Ms. Aguilera hits the studio again on August 11th to start work on a new album and wrote on Instagram:
"Baby girl getting first listen to what mama's been creating in the studio,"
Best to both Christina and Matthew.
Have a terrific Monday Everyone!

My Bump, My Lovely Baby Bump: Christina Aguilera

She's Pregnant & Proud! Christina Aguilera
Look! She has a baby bump, she's pregnant and proud of it, check it out, don't be shy.
Christina Aguilera flaunts her pregnancy in V Magazine, and why not? I remember when Demi Moore did it on the cover of Vanity Fair and what a buzz it caused.

I also remember being in an elevator with studio executives at the now defunct Orion Pictures, performing my first industry job in the mail room, and them making fun of her.

Typical money men, not one ounce of artistic expression or creativity in them.

What I felt was a beautiful and bold move at the time is now the norm for female artists.

There is something amazing about a lovely portrait of a pregnant woman.

Thank you Ms. Aguilera for this stunning image that never gets boring. It reminds everyone of the wonder & miracle of life.

"Say Something," It's "A Great Big World"

A Great Big World
A GREAT BIG WORLD TO EMBARK ON "A GREAT BIG WORLD TOUR"

NEW SINGLE "ALREADY HOME"

“ROCKSTAR” COVERED ON “GLEE” APRIL 1

Always remember: It's A Great Big World and you just live in it, carry on....

A Great Big World will be crisscrossing the globe this year when they launch an expansive international run, the appropriately titled "A Great Big World Tour". This marks their return to Europe and sees them hit numerous territories for the first time. The tour also perfectly coincides with the launch of the group's latest single "Already Home". With an elegant piano intro, the song builds into another impressive, inspiring, and infectious chorus from the group. It's another majestic anthem from A Great Big World following upon the stratospheric success of “Say Something” with Christina Aguilera which has reached international multi-platinum sales.

About “Already Home”, A Great Big World adds, "We wrote this song years ago, but it's kind of spooky how much the lyrics mean to us now that we've been away touring for months. We're realizing that 'home' doesn't need to be a tangible and physical thing. It can be that quiet place that is always there inside of you, or the love that exists between two people, no matter how far apart. So in that sense, we are always 'home."

In support of the song and critically acclaimed debut album, Is There Anybody Out There? [Black Magnetic/Epic Records], the tour starts on May 10th with the iconic Los Angeles radio show Wango Tango, and then sees the New York pop duo of Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino visit at least twelve countries over the course of four months.

Axel and Vaccarino preface the tour saying, "It's pretty unbelievable that we've reached a point where we're able to travel half-way across the Earth, and have fans coming to see us and support us. That's why we write. That's why we perform - to connect. The world is beginning to feel a lot smaller than our name suggests!"

On April 1, A Great Big World’s music returns to hit Fox show Glee as the group’s uplifting anthem“Rockstar” will be covered by the cast during a pivotal episode. This is the second time Glee has chosen to perform one of the group’s songs. In 2013 the Glee cast performed “This Is the New Year” (video) and helped launch the song to its viral success.  Get ready to hear “Rockstar” like you’ve never heard it before.

It's been a magical journey thus far for the group. In addition to debuting at #3 on the Billboard Top 200, Is There Anybody Out There? received widespread critical acclaim upon its release in January.

Their breakthrough triple-platinum mega-hit with Christina Aguilera"Say Something,” ignited a fast rise to success back in November 2012. AxelVaccarino, and Aguilera gave a stirring performance on NBC's The Voice followed by enchanting and electrifying turns at the American Music Awards and The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

As their profile grew, the single entranced the entire world, eventually selling over three million digital songs at a rapid rate in the U.S. alone. It went on to occupy the #1 spot on iTunes, Billboard's Digital Songs Chart, Billboard's Digital Track Chart, Spotify, and Shazam in addition to going Top 10 on sales charts in 19 countries. They've also performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, ABC's Good Morning AmericaLIVE with Kelly and Michael and had a live stream of their sold out New York Highline Ballroom show with VH1.com.  VH1 also selected the group as their first 2014 “You Oughta Know” Artist.  Finally most recently they were asked to perform as the first-ever musical guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers and gave a riveting performance at the prestigious Clive Davis annual Pre-Grammy party this year.

James Durbin On Tour: Hey Durbinators!

Hey all you Durbinators out there, you didn't think "Entertain Me" would go through the month of May without something about the man, James Durbin did you?

Last month you and I were there in full force supporting James at his Viper Room gig in Los Angeles, CA. This month James Continues to tour...Oh yeah! James across the globe!

He performed The Star Spangled Banner not too long ago at an Los Angeles Kings game, for those of you not in that loop, they are LA's professional hockey team. As we Durbinators know James performance of our National Anthem was on the level of Kelly Clarkson nailing it at The Superbowl. Lucky for us he's no Christina Aguliera when it comes to pride in the US.

James continues to tour as I type, track him down in a city near you - and a special thanks to the Durbinators, you all know who you are, who have supported this blog!

10 Stupid Questions With: "Ponyboy"

Alt-rockers “Ponyboy", Charles McVey & David Zey, are in the house to promote their “Little Dick Demo” by answering my 10 Stupid Questions…are you ready Pony’s? Let’s rock-n-ride!

1. Do you guys know how to pony, like Boney Moroney?

Charles: I don't know what you mean. Is that a George Clooney movie?

David: Yes. I do it all the time with my uncles and step-brothers.

2. What about twist? Do you do it like this?

Charles: Well I like water with a lemon twist, but I think that most people do.

David: Well I’ve certainly played naked Crisco Twister a few times in the woods with my friends, if that’s what you mean.

3. Daddy Issue’s or an issue of Playboy?

Charles: I think it was a daddy's issue of Playboy that revealed the wonders of the female body to me. However, I soon saw a clip from a porno called "Fat Chicks" and it totally turned me queer.

David: My daddy had issues with Playboy. He was always smearing the pictures and getting the pages all stuck together somehow.

4. Ever been too drunk to f#$k?

Charles: I'm too drunk to f#$k right now.

David: I’m too f#$ked to drink.

5. What about kiss?

Charles: Does anyone really kiss anymore? I hear that H.J.s at The Replay are all the rage.

David: I have a strict “no kissing” policy. Put that mouth to better use –

6. Are you always the outsider?

Charles: I would have to say that most of the time I feel like an outsider, but especially when I am outside my house. I am not fond of nature and look forward to a life lived in domes.

David: I love playing outside. I’m kind of a hippie. I drink outside, dance outside, smoke outside, f#$k outside, etc…

7. Do you guys think Adam Levine (of Maroon 5) is hot?

Charles: Yes, who doesn't?

David: What the hell is Maroon 5? If it’s not bear porn I don’t care.

8. How about his “Move Like Jagger” singing partner Christina Aguilera?

Charles: No, I don't like her. What happened to Jenny from the block?

David: She’s a mostly failed attempt at risqué. She could try harder and be much more offensive and in the face about it.

9. What color is God’s skin?

Charles: Crimson and Blue

David: This is a trick question. God does not exist. But if she did, her skin would be candy colored sequins and it would taste like cocaine.

10. Does God really hate your feelings?

Charles: People confuse that song as being a statement against the whole, or something like "God hates everyone's feelings" but that is not what I meant. The song is targeted at a specific individual, not the world. So, I don't think that God hates my feelings, but I know he hates someone's feelings and that person is David Zey.

David: No. But I certainly hate God’s feelings. He’s a great big winey baby and is really self-absorbed and needs all this attention but is really particular about how he gets attention and he always manages to find a way to ruin EVERYONE’S good time. Seriously, f#$k that dude and quit inviting him to our parties.
