Gonna Tell My Nieces & Nephews This Was Fleetwood Mac

Flamingo Road
Christina Raines, Howard Duff, Morgan Fairchild &
Mark Harmon

You've all seen them online people posting fun images saying they are going to tell the upcoming generation that they are someone other than they are. The thing about this is while it is amusing and often times funny it is also kind of an unfortunate commentary on how the Internet can pervert and twist the truth.

We've seen what that can do, politics anyone? Yeah, I thought not.

Which brings me to what this really is a nifty prime time soap called Flamingo Road that ran two years from 1980 - 1982.

Here's the 411: Based on the novel and 1949 film of the same name, this prime-time soap detailed the lives of haves and have-nots in the sleepy Southern hamlet Truro, Florida. The haves live in huge mansions on Flamingo Road, while the rest of the characters did anything (blackmail, murder, voodoo) to obtain that address as well.

The drama won over critics, but never got enough of an audience to stay on the air. Too bad, it's a personal favorite of mine and should have ran for at least the requisite five seasons so I and the others who loved it could still see it in syndication.

C'est La Vie!

PS despite certain misgivings about doing so, I'm still telling my Nieces & Nephews this was Fleetwood Mac. I like to have fun and know they are intelligent enough to discern fact from fiction.

R.I.P. - Naya Rivera

While I was never a Glee fan (I think I watched it 5 times during it's entire run) that does not mean the unexpected passing of one of it's cast members can not sadden me. Especially when that person was a mere 33 years old.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Naya Rivera she was beautiful and talented. I sincerely hope her family and her son are holding up. I wish them all the best.

As many of you know Naya was BFF's with her co-star Heather Morris. Naya's character Santana Lopez was groundbreaking in the fact that she came out as a Lesbian who romanced Heather's character Brittany S. Pierce on Glee.

While any gay storyline is a bold move this one had the added facet of Naya being Latina. Making her TV's first and most visible Latina Lesbian. Naya was as bold as her talent.

I am going to leave you with Naya as Santana professing her feelings for Heather as Brittany singing a cover of the Fleetwood Mac song Songbird from the album Rumors. In honor of their friendship and Naya's spirit.

Michael's Musings

Rebel Yell
Michael Shinafelt
In the Reality TV era of which I am a complicit participant, there are many things to consider. One of them should not be the dumbing down of people's minds. Translation: we should get what it's all about and not make it our reality.

Alas that is not true, witness the current state of affairs and who got elected POTUS and why.

Personally I can differentiate the "reality" of media from the realness of life, too bad most people can't. Shall we proceed?

What a kick Melania Trump had to nudge The Orange Butt Plug of the US to put his hand on his heart during the Pledge Of Allegiance. If she doesn't have her Green Card already, hand her one for this.

Remember there are always going to be Weebles on the rag

I fucking love Snapped on the Oxygen Network!

The press has announed that Fleetwood Mac tickets are going to be $800 on their upcoming tour. I love them, but not that much. (luckily I have seen them when ticket prices weren't a mortgage)

Pride! "You Are My Family"

Tis the season for Pride, and with that Joe Gauthreaux releases his latest production, “You Are My Family”, a song that celebrates the tightest of friendships and features vocals by the diva of dance, Inaya Day.  Of course it's a dance record, but it also has elements of pop, EDM, and gospel house. “It's a song I'm extremely proud of because it keeps changing as you go along and it has a really good payoff in the end with the gospel breakdown,” Mr. Gauthreaux says.  He cops to throwing out all of his conventional ways of producing dance music on “You Are My Family”. “I wanted this song to make a difference in people's lives beyond the nightclub. I didn’t want to sacrifice the emotional element for the sake of making it a dance record. I can always make a club mix later.”

So I asked Joe to sock it to me, and tell me what his top five songs are for Gay Pride!

5.  Madonna - Living For Love - Her best single in a long time and the message is timely. Love is what it is all about!

4.  Taylor Swift - Welcome to New York - I just did a mash up to this and I featured the part where she says "... and you can want who you want, boys & boys, and girls & girls..."

3.  Fleetwood Mac - Dreams (Joe Gauthreaux & David Marc 2014 Club Mix) - I love the line "thunder only happens when it's raining" - it's a metaphor for the gay community making things happen when we protest, and have our voices be heard as one.

2.  Aretha Franklin - Pride (A Deeper Love) - This one speaks for itself! A classic that never gets old.

1.  Joe Gauthreaux featuring Inaya Day - You Are My Family - Because without the ones we love surrounding us, being there for us through thick & thin, pride has no meaning.

Give "You Are My Family" a listen after the jump!

Stevie Nicks Will Appear On "American Horror Story: Coven"

Stevie Nicks

That's correct all you "AHS" fans who also like me love yourself some Stevie Nicks. The legendary Fleetwood Mac Goddess who has been rumored to be a witch herself for years is going to appear on the show in what capacity yet is to be known...

Educated guess? She appears as herself and gives the audience a look at her witch-y ways.

Ms. Nicks is already the source of admiration and adoration for Lily Rabe's necromancer "Misty Day"

"Misty Day" Loves Herself Some Stevie

Being a HUGE Nicks fan and a fan of "Coven" I can't wait for Stevie to finally out herself as the mythic witch she truly is!

Yes!!!!!!!!!

Keep up with what's happening at the "Coven": http://www.fxnetworks.com/ahs/
