Cherie Currie's new album Blvds of Splendor, produced by Matt Sorum (Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver) is out now and features the classic “Roxy Roller.

For this special, one-of-a-kind “At Home”performance, 17 year old Runaways fan (Isaac Valiente) edited the video. Cherie (vocals) enlisted special quests Suzi Quatro (vocals), Nick Gilder (vocals), her son Jake Hays (rhythm guitar & backing vocals), Perry Farrell guitarist Nick Maybury and Phil Leavitt(drums) & Joie Calio(bass) of the bands Dada & 7 Horse on the standout track "Roxy Roller" (also written by Nick Gilder) - ROXY ROLLER

"With life in lockdown and the surprise release of Blvds of Splendor, the first song that came to mind for a quarantine video was "Roxy Roller."  My son Jake and I sat down in front of a camera and singing to an acoustic electric we filmed the building block of the song.  I am so lucky and blessed to have amazing musicians as friends to reach out to and all were more than giving of their time for this. I then reached out to my dear friend Suzi Quatro, then Nick Gilder who again were so giving of their time. The cherry on top was meeting Isaac Valiente on FB. He's a 17 year old self taught video editor who stole my heart with his love for music and a giant ball of humble talent. And there you have it. A great video born of love and support in a time where that’s really all that matters."

"Was asked by my good friend Cherie to be part of this. After her wonderful contribution to my documentary SUZI Q (premiering in July  in the USA), and even writing a song about me, which was the closing song of the film...... well...excuse me... did I have a choice!! I  didn't even have to learn the song because I recorded it myself in 1976. Good old Roxy, she certainly has made the rounds hasn't she!! (wink, wink)."  Suzi xx"

"Making this video with Cherie and Suzi is especially poignant for me. I met Cherie and her twin sister Marie at my very first show in LA back in the day at the iconic Doug Weston's Troubadour.  Having Cherie cover my song "Roxy" on her fantastic new CD Blvds of Splendor is simply wonderful! It really rocks and to have Suzi who also recorded an impressive version help with this video is an absolute treat I hope you all enjoy our efforts, thanks!" Nick Gilder

Blvds of Splendor  features guest collaborations with Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins, Slash and Duff from Guns N’ Roses, as well as Juliette Lewis, Brody Dalle, The Veronicas and drummer Matt Sorum. The special digital only release features three bonus tracks (including a remake of The Runaways classic “Queens of Noise” featuring Brody Dalle, The Veronicas, Juliette Lewis and Matt Sorum paying homage to late Runaways drummer Sandy West).  Album available on Blackheart Records HERE

The Quarantine Shuffle

Wonder Woman
Lynda Carter
Like most of us I have been watching way more TV of late. Hey, what are we Corn Teen minions supposed to do with limited options???

Well yesterday while channel surfing I struck Television Gold! "Yes" I was feeling my inner Yukon Cornelius when I stumbled upon a two part Batman episode with Julie Newmar as the Catwoman on, followed by an episode of Wonder Woman with Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner

The thing I remembered most about these shows from my days of yore was that they were silly fun. What I really did not recall was how skilled the actors were in bringing depth to that silliness.
Catwoman
Julie Newmar
Julie Newmar brought surprising pathos to her performance as the kinky Catwoman, even though the material she was given on Batman was pure camp on a stick, Ms. Newmar really understood what she was doing and how to elevate it.

Likewise Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman and Lyle Waggoner as Major Steve Trevor. They all elevated something silly into something magic.

I truly enjoyed rediscovering these two old friends, sometimes The Quarantine Shuffle isn't too shabby.

Juicy!

Makin' News
Lizzo
I'm breezing into Saturday like...

"Mirror, mirror on the wall, Don't say it, 'cause I know I'm cute (ooh, baby)" Juice, Lizzo

"Yes" Lizzo and Myself have this in common, I'm feeling her today, thus she is my spirit animal of this moment, right here, right now.

Bear witness to bad ass Lizzo arriving not in a convertible, but on one for her performance on the Today Show in NYC.

"I'm like chardonnay, get better over time (so you know), Heard you say I'm not the baddest, bitch, you lied"

Preach Lizzo! If anyone tells you that your aren't worthy of being the baddest bitch today give them a smackdown!

Booyah!

Happy Leap Year!

Lady Gaga & Sexual Assault Survivors
@ The Oscars
Yes, today is that day that happens once every four years another day gets added to the shortest month of the year, February 29th, Happy Leap Year!

After what will go down in history as one of the worst Oscar telecasts ever, I felt a need to reflect on the best moment of the evening. Lady Gaga performing her song that addresses the issue of sexual assault Till It Happens To You

Not only did Gaga give a knock out performance, she was bravely joined on stage by actual survivors of sexual assault. This song was robbed of the Oscar in my opinion giving it to Sam Smith for an anemic Bond Theme instead.

Then another piece of Oscar magic happened Brie Larson who won for best actress for Room hugged each and every one of those who took a stance with our Lady on stage as they exited. Check out the video below.

Have a terrific February 29th, you won't get this day again for another four years!!!

Antebellum Art Opening

This Must Be It: Antebellum Gallery in Hollywood
Last night I attended the opening of the exhibit of 21st Century Gay Man at the Antebellum gallery in the heart of Hollywood, CA in support of my artist friend Kent who had pieces in the exhibit.

It was a good time, not only was there plenty of art to view, there was also DJ Renato Teroy spinning in the gallery window, a performance by a punk band called Thinpins and eye candy in the form of bartender Jayk Knight in a barely there booty bearing underwear.

It's photo time, enjoy!

Paging Katy Perry For Superbowl 2015

Who's That Girl? Katy Perry That's Who
While checking out E! News this morning the headline that stood out to me the most was the Katy Perry would be performing the iconic half time show for 2015's Superbowl.

Now I am not saying Katy Perry sucks, I have liked a few songs she has done, Firework for one comes to mind. But she, at least to me, does not really have the cache of a Beyonce' or a Madonna. Her career is pretty feather weight by comparison.

Oh well, not my company not my choice of who to use. While I am sure her performance will be entertaining I'm just not sure it will reach the potential high that viewers expect from this yearly extravaganza.

Tune in and find out when Superbowl 2015 airs!

Doin' My Thang

2013 is over and I could not be any happier! 2014 is going to be an amazing year - full of opportunity, prosperity and of course "Entertain Me."

My 2014 calendar is off to a great start. Hitting a preview of the play "Take Me Out" at The Complex in Hollywood, CA Thursday night.

And on Friday the 3rd checking out James Durbin on his acoustic tour at The Viper Room in Los Angeles, CA - photo coverage, by me, will be posted here on "Entertain Me."

2014 looks to be the year of so many things to do and not enough time to do them in, here's wishing all of you the same and that you will rise to the challenge!

Happy First Day of 2014! I leave you with one of my favorite performances of this past year, Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera singing "Do What U Want" on The Voice.

Enjoy!

Go "White Christmas" With Sandy Zacky

Sandy Sings "White Christmas" @ CSUN

David Letterman has Darlene Love, Rockefeller Center and now The Grove in Los Angeles has it's tree lighting...here at "Entertain Me" we kick off Christmas with our resident Chanteuse, Sandy Zacky.

I had the honor of seeing Sandy with a "Y" not "E" sing "White Christmas" live at her one night only CSUN performance in 2009...she was amazing!

Thus she is my Christmas tradition. So without further adieu on this December 1st 2013 the Christmas Season begins with Sandy with a "Y"
It's Christmas Time

As this review of Ms. Z states:

...Zacky is a cross between Rosemary Clooney and Ella Fitzgerald. She is a truly great singer with consummate phrasing...

Miley Cyrus "Came In Like A Wrecking Ball" At The American Music Awards

Miley Cyrus Gives Good Face

I woke up this morning to an E-mail from David Zey from the band Ponyboy asking me this question:

"Dudebro. did you catch Miley's performance?"

To quote him directly. Well no I didn't I thought Hmmmmmmm.....what did she do this time, I thought the only attention getting antic left for our Lady of Cyrus was a live sex show, I was wrong.

                                             "Wrecking Ball" American Music Awards

Her performance was brilliant last night! Let me explain why, because even though she had an adorable kitten singing along with her in some sort of cyberspace alternate reality who cried kitty tears at the climax of the song and she had her own eenie meenie teeny weeny kitten headed bikini on, this decidedly low key performance stunt, for Miley at least, brought full focus to what a truly talented singer she is. Her vocal performance and her ability to access her emotions while showcasing her abilities connected her talent as a singer, with the audience again.

Vocally and emotionally Ms. Cyrus knocked it out of the park!

Also for what it's worth, for some reason I can't really place my finger on, I found the kitten motif compelling and complimentary to the performer's agenda -

Say what you will about her Miley Cyrus really knows how to sing a song and make you take notice with or without the silly antics.
