Class Of 2020

The Immaculate Hear Of Mary
Class Of 2020

Michael Shinafelt
Congratulations to the Class of 2020, you made it! Too bad about the pandemic, but there have been many inventive and wonderful ways your graduation year has been and will be celebrated. For instance this past weekend when I was walking by The Immaculate Heart Of Mary they were having a parking lot graduation.

Basically everyone sat in their cars as the ceremony took place, when the students name was called out they were to don their mask and go up to the stage to accept their diploma. Clever, fun and still full of the possibility of the usual Graduation Day embarrassment.

People have taken to the streets to salute you and famous world figures have recorded special messages and songs on YouTube just for you.

Let's face it you special day may not have been the usual pomp and circumstance, but it will always be very special, because of how unique it was, you will have some very amazing memories when you look back on this. I am going to leave you with President Obama and his wife Michelle with their message to you.

Congrats to all of you, well done!!!

Just Because...Michelle Obama

Still Making a Difference
Michelle Obama
Just Because we need some grace, dignity & class right here, right now. Just Because I miss her and Just Because she is still out there making a positive impact on people's lives -"Yes" it's a Michelle Obama kind of day!

Here she is encouraging higher education to the youth of our country by making an appearance at the 5th annual College Signing Day.

Although I loved the image of President Obama making Melania Trump smile, since she needed one. I love this even more.

Honestly, Michelle was one of our greatest First Ladies ever. I would never say greatest about anyone, I don't play favorites. There are other First Ladies who have done wonderful things as well.

She is also proving it by continuing the legacy she started and not remaining quiet, when she could have easily done that.

Empowerment to the people!

Jingle Bell Barack

Ho, Ho, Ho!
Santa, President Obama, Eva Longoria & Kelly Clarkson
Deck The White House
With 2016 drawing to a close and Christmas on it's way I thought what better way to count it all down than to take a peek at the last Christmas Tree lighting at the White House under President Barack Obama, one shudders to think what next year at this time might be like.

President Obama along with Eva Longoria, Kelly Clarkson and of course Santa got together and jammed on the holiday staple Jingle Bells at the tree lighting ceremony in Washington, DC.

Something to put a smile on your face today.

Sing-A- Long, won't you?

Werd to your Mother! It's Loni Love!

Comedienne, actress, tv host and author, Loni Love is in demand and loving it as she returned as co-host for season 2 of her hit daytime talker “The Real” this past year.  The nationally syndicated show which airs on Fox stations (with a rebroadcast in primetime on cable network BET) was recently renewed for 2 more years through the 2017/2018 season and has been touted by the New York Post as “fun, funny, involved in life, outrageous by nature, warm and, most of all, real.”
On January 21,  “The Real” is set to launch “Loni’s Laugh Off,” a stand-up comedy competition to find the newest up and coming comedy talent.  “This is close to me, because I started doing stand-up when I was still working as an engineer.  It took a long time before I could quit my day job and make a living off my jokes . So, if you’re out there with a nine-to-five job, spending your nights at open mics, this competition is for you.” Says Loni.

Viewers (18 or older who have never appeared on television doing stand up) have until Friday, February 12 to go to www.TheReal.com  and upload a short video (no more than 3 minutes) of their best comedy routine.  Loni will pick her 3 favorites and then viewers will vote on-line on the 3 finalists with the winner being chosen on “The Real” March 2.  In addition, the grand prize winner will get to open for Loni at one of her LIPSHTICK STAND-UP COMEDY SHOWS at the Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada.   Lipshtick was the 2015 winner of “Best Comedy Show” by the Las Vegas Review Journal, and has featured comediennes such as Loni, Lisa Lampanelli and Roseanne Barr.

In the ten plus years since she began doing comedy full time, Loni has found her niche on The Real(“It's like a younger, intoxicated version of The View” said Jezebel), as well as regular appearances spinning tunes as the house DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.  Loni also currently co-hosts the Café Mocha radio show cafemocharadio.com with rapper MC Lyte.  They’ve interviewed President Obama and the First Lady as well as superstars like John Legend, Toni Braxton among many others.  Café Mocha is the only nationally syndicated show of its kind that was created exclusively BY and FOR women of color.  You can catch the nationally syndicated show on over 40 stations across the country including SiriusXM Channel 141. Additionally, Loni has guest hosted on Fashion Police and has been a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and E!  Along with her work on television, Loni is set to co-star on the big screen this spring in director Garry Marshall’s new film, Mother’s Day and can also be seen in several movies, including the successful Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 opposite Kevin James, Soul Plane with Kevin Hart and the Bad Ass franchise with Danny Glover and Danny Trejo.

In addition, Loni is the subject of the documentary “Being Loni Love.  “Being Loni Love” traces Loni’s life story from her early days as a latchkey daughter growing up in Detroit’s Brewster-Douglas housing projects to national stand up comedienne, tv and movie star. “ I was honored when the “Being” producers wanted to hear my story. I want to share my life story to inspire all women that they can become and achieve whatever they want.”  Says Loni.

Need Anyone Ask Why Kim & Kanye Continually Get Snubbed?!

Kanye & Kim - Enough Said
Kim Kardashian was snubbed by President Obama  last week at Steven Spielberg’s
Ambassador for Humanity gala. Although the President did mingle with a number of high profile guests, according to Radar Online, when Kim reached out for an introduction, she was rebuffed.

OK Obama I'm with you on this decision, although Kim supported the President’s re-election, she was not allowed to do anything in a political capacity. Kim’s support is not something serious candidates want, let's all fain shock and surprise. The President has already labeled Kanye West as  “jackass” twice, so maybe this should not be a surprise.

The best surprise is no surprise...you two need to find a hole to hide in the bomb is coming.

This Weeks Word: Snubbed - and rightfully so. Happy Mothers Day.& no website recommend at this time.

Stop Bullying! Morgan Frazier

Morgan Frazier and Stand for the Silent

Team Up For Anti-Bullying Tour

Stops Planned for Schools Across the Country Beginning in October

Does anyone really know who Morgan Frazier is? Well neither did I until recently. Anyone who stands up against bullying gets my vote as one cool person. I found out about the awesome Morgan via a press release regarding her Anti-Bullying Tour - her parents pulled her out of school e
ntirely because of her own bullying experience. Support this talented and amazing young woman...carry on and read on!

Country recording artist Morgan Frazier and anti-bullying organization Stand for the Silent are taking their message on the road with a tour that will begin at schools in Knoxville, Tenn., New Bern, N.C., Charleston, S.C. and Charlotte, N.C., with more stops to be added. Their mission is to change kids’ lives and bring awareness to bullying and the real devastation it causes. Since May 2010, Stand for the Silent has traveled to hundreds of schools and spoken with more than 700,000 kids. Sidewalk/Curb recording artist, Morgan Frazier has joined the cause and partnered with the organization to help bring global awareness to the issue. Morgan will join them at select school tour dates, where she will perform her new single, “Hey Bully,” a song inspired by Frazier’s personal experiences.

“I am so honored to be working with Kirk and Laura Smalley and Stand For The Silent to tackle this issue.  I have witnessed first-hand the power of their presentation through feedback from students in every city they reach.  We must all play a part in educating people of all ages about the devastating effects of bullying”.

At the beginning of each Stand for the Silent school presentation, student leaders read the biographies of bullying victims that have lost their lives to suicide as submitted by their families. According to the organization, every seven seconds a child is bullied in this world, 160,000 kids stay home from school every day due to fear of bullying and 25% of high school students in America will actually have a plan to take their own life before they graduate. “Hey Bully” was inspired by Morgan’s own experience with bullying, which eventually led her parents to remove her from school entirely.

About Stand for the Silent:
Stand for the Silent exists as a platform to allow Kirk and Laura Smalley to share their story and offer education and tools that will prevent their tragedy from happening to another child and family. Kirk and Laura’s mission is to continue to change kids’ lives and bring awareness to bullying and the real devastation it causes. Since May 2010, Kirk and Laura Smalley have traveled to hundreds of schools and spoken with more than 700,000 kids.  In March 2011, Kirk and Laura met privately with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama in The White House prior to attending the first ever White House conference on bullying. Their story is featured in Director Lee Hirsch's feature film, Bully. Kirk and Laura have been invited to a number of conferences on bullying and met with Lady Gaga this spring at the launch of the Born This Way Foundation.

About Morgan Frazier:
Recognized in Country Weekly’s “Ones To Watch in 2013,” Morgan Frazier’s remarkable journey began in a small Texas town where she made her way to Nashville by literally going door-to-door.  At just nine years old, Morgan recorded her first CD in her hometown of Breckenridge, Texas.   Although they had no formal plans to market or sell the CD's, Morgan's family believed in their little girl's talent and ordered one thousand copies. For the next two years, Morgan and her family traveled all over the South and Southwest selling over thirty thousand copies of her album. At the age of sixteen, Morgan followed her dream to Nashville where she perfected her songwriting craft and honed her chops at the legendary Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. Not long after, she signed a publishing and recording contract with Curb Records’ imprint Sidewalk Records. Having experienced bullying first hand, Morgan co-wrote her latest single, “Hey Bully” to bring awareness to the growing epidemic.

"Love Is Love" And VenSun

"My mother started me when I was really young, I went to music school and studied opera. You can't take the girl out of the classical!" - Sylvia Tosun

The above quote was from my interview with Sylvia for her club hit "World Keeps Turning" jump to that here! http://www.chorusandverse.com/content.php?id=20120206A

Sylvia and French Producer David Vendetta recently created VenSun. With the overturning of DOMA (The Defense of Marriage Act) their first collaboration "Love is Love" could not have asked to be released at a better time.

To mark this historic event a special version features spoken samples from Martin Luther King, President Obama, Congresswoman Maureen Walsh, Ellen DeGeneres, and Hillary Clinton interspersed in the mix, giving it an historic feel –  to mark the exact moment of time

So Celebrate Everyone and get out and dance!
